The steppe vibrates, the dust dances – and suddenly there's a lion standing in the golden morning light. Welcome to the Serengeti! In Tanzania, nature plays out in cinemascope: wildebeest thunder across the plains, elephants stroll past Lake Natron and the Ngorongoro Crater feels like it's from another world. For those who want more, Mount Meru awaits: a wild ride to 4,566 metres, summit night, adrenaline and sunrise behind Kilimanjaro. It's not for the faint-hearted – but it's for everyone who wants to know what real adventure feels like. And when you think it can't get any better, Zanzibar arrives. White sand, warm water and the scent of spices in the air. One country, two worlds – and countless moments you'll never forget.

Tanzania is full of highlights, but these must-sees belong on your bucket list.

Safari in Tanzania shows you nature at its most impressive. In Serengeti National Park, you'll roll through endless savannah in a jeep whilst thousands of wildebeest set off on the great migration on the horizon. In Ngorongoro Crater, you'll meet elephants, rhinos and lions in close quarters – like in a giant natural amphitheatre. At Lake Manyara, flamingos fly overhead and baboons cross your path. Every national park in Tanzania has its own vibe – sometimes green and water-rich, sometimes dusty and dry. But they all have one thing in common: safari moments that stay with you.

On Zanzibar, you'll automatically wind down. After the safari, you'll head straight to the island – and suddenly you're barefoot in the sand, gazing out at the turquoise sea. In Stone Town, history mixes with street life, between narrow alleyways, spice scents and colourful doors. In Jozani Forest, you'll meet red colobus monkeys, and on a dhow boat tour you'll glide into the sunset. And underwater, there are warm currents, coral reefs and colourful fish – perfect for snorkelling or diving. Zanzibar is the relaxed contrast to the safari feeling: a mix of nature, culture and beach vibes – and the best place to round off your Tanzania trip.

Mount Meru isn't something you do on the side – here a real trekking adventure awaits. Four days, 4,566 metres, steep paths and magical views. You'll start in Arusha National Park: giraffes graze in the bush whilst you hike with your guide and ranger to the first hut at 2,500 metres. The next day, you'll crack the 3,500-metre mark – through cloud forest, heathland and past the crater rim. The ascent to Little Meru brings extra acclimatisation. Then comes the royal stage: you'll start at midnight, headtorches on, up to Socialist Peak. At Rhino Point, dawn breaks – and at the top, sunrise behind Kilimanjaro awaits you. After the descent, you'll head back to Moshi – exhausted, proud and fulfilled.
