With your nose pressed to the window of the plane, you feverishly await your landing in Denpasar as Bali greets you from afar with a unique mosaic of white sand, green jungle and turquoise water.
Next stop: your accommodation, where you fall into your new bed overjoyed. You're finally here! You take a short breather, then head off to discover the natural world that surrounds you. 'Wow!' Ubud is colourful, hip and, with its seven temples and lush green nature, simply magical. Your imagination starts running wild as you consider all you want to do and experience here. And then a smile creeps across your face – you can hardly wait!
Mystical temples, lively alleys and next-level food – all this makes Ubud a truly enchanting Balinese highlight that you can't wait to fully experience today. Head to the city centre and start exploring from there. Let yourself drift through the colourful alleys filled with small shops and soak in the sights, scents and sounds. The amount of photo and art galleries, designer shops and stalls selling handicrafts and souvenirs is incredible! And interspersed amongst them all are always little cafés, restaurants and warungs with everything your foodie heart could desire. From trendy superfood bowls to traditional, simple cuisine, there's something for everyone. Up for a little monkey business? Of course you are! The Monkey Forest (optional, payable on site) lives up to its name and is home to over 600 macaques. Head into the mysterious jungle on your own and discover the little inhabitants among mystical trees, vines and free-hanging roots.
No one who visits Bali can do without a trip to see the famous Gate of Heaven, which is exactly where you're heading today – and you'll be doing it all on your own. You'll find plenty of local transport companies in Ubud with which you can arrange a driver to take you to the east of the island (optional, payable on site). Even during the ride, you won't stop pulling out your camera to capture the incredible views all around you – as long as you have enough memory left, that is! When you arrive at Lempuyang Temple, take a reverent stroll through the complex before heading to one of the all-time greatest Insta pic spots, the impressive Gate of Heaven. From there, you'll have a perfect view of the Agung volcano and the perfect phot op. Strike a pose, snap your pic and there you have it: the perfect Insta shot. Want to make the most of your time while you're out and about? Then find a ride and check out one of Bali's most beautiful water temples, Tirta Gangga.
