USA city-hopping: Midwest meets East Coast icons

Once you arrive in Chicago, you can either take public transport or grab a cab (payable on site) to head to your place to stay. If you're still fit enough to get out and start exploring, throw yourself into Chicago's urban canyons, and as soon as the wind fights its way through the skyline and blows your hair into your face, you'll realise where the Windy City got its nickname. That ought to wake you up again! Just drift through the streets as you please, driven by the breeze, and you'll blend into the pulse of this impressive metropolis in no time. 

If you want the best of the best, you'll get your money's worth at the top of Chicago's tallest building! You probably already noticed Willis Tower while exploring the city. After all, at 1,450 feet high and with its imposing, dark glass facade, it's not exactly inconspicuous. Before you head inside, crane your neck and marvel at the toweringly tall sight. Then step into the lift and whizz up to the 103rd floor in no time at all – quite literally, as it's one of the fastest lifts in the world! Outside, the view is set to take your breath away and leave you speechless. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the neighbouring states. Up for even more thrills? Just head to The Ledge, where only a glass floor separates you from the ground 1,350 feet below!

Up 'n at 'em! Your adventure in Chicago continues, and the city's hipster neighbourhood, Wicker Park, is just waiting to be explored. Colourful, quaint streets with loads of shops, small cafés and restaurants characterise this alternative part of the metropolis, and you’re bound to be swept up in the local hustle and bustle. Top tip: Between Logan Square and Humboldt Park lies The 606, an unused elevated railway line that's now been brought back to life with beautiful greenery and pathways winding above Chicago's rooftops. It's also the perfect spot for all kinds of activities! So, what'll it be? A long walk, a round of sport or simply a chill sesh? In the West Loop neighbourhood, Randolph Street and Fulton Market are at least as hip as Wicker Park. And in the evening, this district truly comes to life. Why not grab a drink and soak up the sparkling lights and relaxed vibes deep into the night!
