Nordic road trip: Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja

Today's route takes you past snow-covered mountain peaks and shimmering dark blue fjords. Then continue on as the hilly landscape becomes more and more criss-crossed by water – a magical sight that you're bound to remember forever. Before you know it, you'll have reached your destination.  Welcome to Narvik, a harbour town north of the Arctic Circle, spectacularly situated on a headland between two arms of the Ofotfjord. Settle in, take a deep breath and marvel at your surroundings. With mountains towering into the sky, glistening water and crisp air that's totally wild, this place is prime for a relaxing walk along the fjord or through the city, with the dramatic natural scenery always in view. In between, take a cosy break in a café and warm up with a coffee and a cinnamon bun as you soak up the Nordic mood. 

You just can't stop thinking about the view of Narvik from above, so you make your way up again today. From the upper cable car station, you have the chance to hike out into the mountain landscape to get even higher! You enjoy the view to the fullest – with your naked eye and through the lens of your camera – and once you've seen enough, it's back to the city so you can finally get to exploring all its beautiful nooks and crannies like you've been wanting. Sit down in one of the cute cafés and order a typical Norwegian treat, like a Kanelbolle, or just drift through the alleyways and see where they take you; after all, that's the best way to explore! And if you're a history buff, the Krigsminnemuseet, which vividly depicts Narvik's eventful history, should definitely be on your bucket list (optional, payable on site).

'Excited' is an understatement, because today's a day when dreams come true! Impressive rock formations, picturesque fjords and the islanders' laid-back attitude towards life – you can hardly wait to experience it all up close.
