But before the murmur of the river lulls you to sleep, you explore the area and familiarise yourself with your options – because here, it never gets boring!

The Otentic Eco Lodge offers a daily boat transfer to Île aux Cerfs (registration required the day before), and all you’ve got to do is pack your swimsuit and weigh anchor! At 9:30 am, you set off and glide across the waves of the Indian Ocean until you reach the offshore island dream. With bright white sand beaches surrounded by green pine trees and palm-covered landscapes, it's hard to believe how beautiful it looks from afar – not to mention the beauty of the crystal-clear sea shimmering in various shades of turquoise. Once you reach the shore, you feel the soft sand under your feet and soak in the marvellous view. The best thing about this boat tour, unlike others, is that it takes you to the remote part of Île aux Cerfs, where you're able to get the most authentic island feeling. So spread out your towel and relax! The boat will take you back to the Eco Lodge at around 1 pm. And if you're up for some action, get back out there on your stand-up paddleboard or maybe try your hand at kite surfing!

Grab a stand-up paddleboard or a kayak, set off on the Grand River South East and pass by beautiful mangroves on your way to a majestic waterfall. You know that feeling when you get to where you're going and it's even more beautiful than you thought? That's exactly what you get here. Just pause for a moment and enjoy the picturesque panorama. And when you're back at your accommodation, answer the call of the sea! Breathe in the salty air and feel the soft sand between your toes as you stroll along the beach and then cool off in the waves. If you're raring to get back at it after your afternoon sunbathing session, borrow a mountain bike from the lodge and explore the mountain landscape. As you pedal along the river, you'll constantly find yourself surrounded by sugar cane plantations, and on the way to Mahébourg, you'll discover small, hidden waterfalls again and again – that's Mauritius!
