Dubai and Seychelles: City lights meet island paradise

Dubai – the name alone is music to your ears! You've been gushing with excitement about the adventure to come, but now you just relax, lean back in your seat and enjoy the flight to the Arabian Peninsula. Then after a little power nap, you're already rolling down the runway.

If you want a break from the glittering highlife, check out the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood north of the city, where among sand tones, narrow alleyways and old mud houses, you'll feel like you're in an open-air museum. Here, Dubai shows you its roots – completely unfiltered. Al Fahidi Fort (yes, the one with the tower!) takes you straight to the Dubai Museum and gives you a really good insight into what everything looked like before the era of oil. And then: boat time! Hop on a water taxi across Dubai Creek (it costs next to nothing) and cruise over to the lively Deira district. Here, you'll find colourful souks that have it all, from gold to spices to fish – and loads of character. Just go with the flow and be amazed at the endless facets of Dubai.

A stroll through Miracle Garden, where sculptures of all shapes and sizes come alive amidst over 70,000 square metres of colourful flowers, makes the perfect way to start the day. Continue on to the Burj al Arab, one of the tallest luxury hotels in the world, then pop over to a place that's no less spectacular: the world's largest shopping mall! In addition to around 1,200 shops, there are tons of other highlights to discover, such as huge aquariums with glass tunnels, a chamber of horrors, an ice-skating rink and a dinosaur skeleton! Just around the corner, you'll find the city's landmark, Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on Earth, where viewing platforms with spectacular views await you on floors 124, 125 and 148 (optional, bookable online). And in the evening, there's one thing you of course cannot miss: the famous Dubai Fountain water show. To get the best view of it, head to the terrace of the Apple Store on the first floor of the Dubai Mall.
