Your veins are coursing with excitement! Your suitcase has long been packed, and now you're wheeling it through the airport – your portal to the next adventure! Before you know it, the sounds of your rolling suitcase have been replaced with the whooshing of engines as your plane lifts off into the night sky at full speed. Countless stars twinkle overhead like tiny harbingers of all the experiences to come. You lean back, close your eyes and dream about the adventures ahead before they finally come true!
Green hills flow smoothly into the turquoise sea, and small islands dot the whole scene like something out of a Ghibli film. In the middle of it all, Hong Kong twinkles like a glittering cape over the coast. With the epic skyline, neon lights and futuristic vibes, you feel like you're in a cyberpunk dream! It already wows you from above, and before you know it, you're right in the middle of it. What an absolute overload (in the best way possible)! You stroll through the next-level streets, past old tea shops next to stylish bubble tea spots, colourful markets and street food stalls giving off aromas that instantly make your stomach rumble. And after quickly dropping off your bags at your next stay, you soon head out again – no matter what your watch says. This city never sleeps, after all! 'Hong Kong, let's vibe!'
A little tip: get the Octopus card directly at the airport (optional, payable on site). This allows you to easily move around the city on public transport.
Time for a deep dive into Hong Kong Island! On a leisurely stroll through the ‘Central’ district, you pass by colourful street art that transforms entire houses into the most beautiful Insta motifs. The 2,625-foot-long Central-Mid-Levels Escalators – the longest in the world – take you to the stop for the Peak Tram, which carries you up to the Peak Tower (optional, bookable online in advance). From Sky Terrace 428 (also optional), you have a fantastic view of the city skyline, and should you want to go even higher, you can climb up to Victoria Peak and enjoy the ultimate view of the harbour and skyline. And if that's not enough, you can take a hike and check out the top-tier view from Braemer Hill. Afterwards, it's time to experience some cinematic history in person. Next stop: the Avenue of Stars, where martial arts legends Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan have been immortalised. Soak up the kung fu vibes, snap a selfie with Bruce Lee's iconic statue and enjoy the view of Hong Kong Island's gleaming facades. Next-level city vibes: check!
Ready for the next leg of your adventure, you board the plane that takes you closer to your dream of Shanghai. Before long, a seemingly endless carpet of buildings spreads out beneath you, and it's already time to land. The city is massive, and now all you've got to do is decide whether to head out and start exploring straight away or rest up and wait till tomorrow. But whichever you choose, before you immerse yourself in the bustling streets, get into the groove by taking a stroll along the Bund, the famous waterfront promenade. This spot by the Huangpu River not only offers bobbing boats and a mighty skyline but also showcases buildings from different eras. The Custom House with its bell tower is a particular highlight. And just like the other buildings, it lights up in the most beautiful colours every night at 10 pm. So if you've been waiting for the perfect selfie spot, here it is!
