Homestay in a floating village and nights of glamping in the jungle

The long wait is over. Cambodia's calling! You give your luggage a once-over. Sense of adventure? Check! Spirit of discovery? Check! Curiosity? Check! And it's time to go. You grab your bags, make your way through the airport and before you know it, the sound of your trolley rolling to the check-in desk is replaced by the rush of turbines as your plane speeds off into the night sky. Street food, temples, dream beaches – one last time, you dream of all the adventures that await you before they finally come true.
Bristling with excitement and grinning ear to ear, your legs bounce up and down as you look out the plane and discover Siem Reap below you. The time has finally come!

Angkor Wat's temples, cooking with locals and street food in Phnom Penh
Welcome to Cambodia! On the way to your accommodation, you fervently watch the hustle and bustle along the roadside, wanting to take in as much as you can. Eager to see what Siem Reap has to offer, you check in then dive straight into the tumult of the city. You stop by the small Made in Cambodia Market, which sells handmade souvenirs, such as jewellery and paintings, and offers the perfect opportunity to find a souvenir for your trip to Cambodia. And after a bit of strolling around, the next must-do isn't far away: a visit to the famous Pub Street, where you round off the evening with a delicious drink. Here's to the next few days! Cheers!
Angkor Wat – just the thought of it makes your spine tingle. By tuk-tuk or bike (optional, payable on site), you thread your way through the busy traffic and take in the sights and sounds of the city. The urban scenery gives way to increasingly dense nature, and you can tell from the large water lily ponds that you're almost there (entrance fee payable on site). Then suddenly, the stone lotus spires of the largest religious structure in the world emerge from the treetops. You whip out your camera and, from now on, can't stop snapping pics. Following the path that leads directly to the temples, you marvel at the skilfully carved sandstone figures. Inside the main temple, you soak up the mystical jungle vibes and explore the complex in awe. And you just can't stop admiring the thick tree roots reclaiming parts of the sacred walls in complete harmony with nature – a truly a magical sight!
How does a day full of shopping and street food sound? After the extensive temple tour, you're drawn to the bustling streets of Siem Reap. Lured by colourful neon lights, steaming cookshops and fragrant spices, you head to the Angkor Night Market. How do you like the sound of a delicious Khmer curry, amok or lok lak? Taste your way through Cambodian cuisine and don't forget to stock up on local spice mixes so you can recreate it all yourself when you get back home. Still have some time before evening? Then visit the Old Market and shop your heart out. Everywhere you go in its surrounding alleyways, you'll come across small workshops, where little masterpieces are being created from wood or stone. Look over the artists' shoulders in fascination, then round off the day with a massage and renew your strength for tomorrow (optional, payable on site)!
