The Spanish sun is shining, and Andalusia welcomes you with its warm vibes. You grab your hire car at the airport, put on your sunglasses and off you go. First stop: your accommodation. Let the road trip begin! You can already hear Málaga calling, but before you dive into the hustle and bustle, it's time to head up high! The Alcazaba towers over the city and not only gives you a little history lesson but also a view that leaves you shook (optional, payable on site). Feeling like Moorish royalty, you walk along the ancient walls, then it's off to the Old Town. As you drift through the streets amongst the cathedrals, narrow alleyways and lively squares of Málaga, you immediately feel the city's unique rhythm, soak up the Mediterranean vibes and enjoy the pure Spanish zest for life.
Yesterday, you were tearing through the streets of Málaga, but today the cortados just aren't strong enough. No worries – what you need now is an adrenaline rush in the mountains! Next stop: the Caminito del Rey, the legendary hiking trail along Andalusia's steep cliffs. With eyes as big as saucers, you trek through massive gorges, balance over a bridge between steep rock faces and briefly wonder if you landed right in an adventure film. Now you're more than awake and ready to keep movin'!Then it's off to Granada! The city lies at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and has an absolute must-see in store: the world-famous Alhambra fortress and palace complex (optional, payable on site). It's best to postpone this bucket list moment till tomorrow morning. But who dreams of tomorrow when the day is still long? Our tip: enjoy an unforgettable dinner on the terrace of the Huerto de Juan Ranas restaurant, enthroned high above the city with a view of the fortress and the peaks of the Sierra Nevada (optional, payable on site). Salud!
¡Buenos días! It's time to get lost within the mystical walls of the Alhambra (optional, payable on site)! Kings of various dynasties made their homes in the almost thousand-year-old 'Red Fortress', and now you're right in the centre of it. First stop: the Alcazaba, a military stronghold, where everything was designed to protect what was once the most modern city in the world. The Nasrid Palaces, on the other hand, are quite the opposite and full of splendour – like something straight out of 1001 Nights! You can hardly tear yourself away, but the next leg of your road trip is already waiting. Now it's off to Córdoba, a city where Romans, Arabs and Spaniards alike have all left their marks. First up: the Mezquita. This incredible work of art was once a mosque, then a church and today, it remains one of the most impressive buildings in Andalusia – an absolute must-see! Afterwards, you take a little across the Roman Bridge of Córdoba, which has connected the city with the other side of the river for over 2,000 years. Its stones have witnessed more history than you can imagine, and with the view of the Guadalquivir River, Córdoba suddenly feels even more magical.
If you didn't have a look inside the Mezquita Cathedral yesterday, it's high time you did (optional, payable on site)! The red and white archways, the huge sea of columns – once inside, it feels like you've entered a whole other world. And while you're there, why not check out the bell tower?! From the top, you'll have the perfect view over the city's flood of white houses. Right next door is the Jewish Quarter of Córdoba, a labyrinth of narrow streets boasting traditional Andalusian flair. The most famous? Calleja de las Flores, a street lined with white walls and brightly coloured flowerpots that's simply postcard perfect. Last stop for today: the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. Fragrant orange trees, babbling fountains, pure tranquillity – the fortress is filled with jaw-dropping gardens that look like they're right out of a fairytale and makes the perfect spot for a short break before your adventure continues.
