Sunglasses, bags, camera, a yearning to explore – you've got everything you need, and you're heading to the airport! As your plane rolls down the runway, you get more and more hyped about what lies ahead. You lean back, snuggle up in your seat and start dreaming of all the adventures that await you in the African wilderness. One thing's for sure: this is gonna be the trip of a lifetime!
Your happiness has a name, and it's Kenya! As you lay eyes on this country full of savannahs, lions and elephants, you can't help but let out a sigh of joy. And what better place to start your adventure than Nairobi?
You arrive in the colourful capital, and the first thing you do is head to your accommodation. After checking in, you have some time to explore Nairobi's bustling city life. The KICC Tower offers the best view of the metropolis (optional, payable on site), and if the weather's good, you might even be lucky enough to see Mount Kilimanjaro! But even if the swirling dust obstructs your view, you can still see the city and Nairobi National Park. As you look at the park, you realise just how excited you're getting about your upcoming safari adventure. But first: Nairobi. If you're interested in the traditional life of the country’s various ethnic groups, then be sure to visit the 'Bomas of Kenya' (optional, payable on site), an open-air museum that boasts an exhibit of reconstructed huts and impressively demonstrates the life and social structures of the Kenyans.
You can't wait to finally embark on your safari adventure, so off you go! With a group of other adventurers, you get picked up and learn all about how to greet one another in Swahili as you're driven into the African wilderness. When you arrive in Amboseli National Park, you can hardly believe your eyes. The mighty, snow-capped Kilimanjaro rises majestically above the savannah and provides a truly astonishing setting that makes your glamping tents seem almost unreal. The best thing about it all? Your safari adventure starts right away. You take a seat in your personal driver's Landcruiser and cruise off into the heart of the national park's savannah, your binoculars always at the ready as you try to spot the first of the Big Five. At the end of the day, you celebrate around a crackling campfire and toast to the adventures ahead. Cheers!
Is this a dream, or is this really happening? This is what you all ask yourself this morning as you step out of your cosy glamping tents and are greeted by the African wilderness. The grin on your face grows bigger and bigger as you remember that there are more safaris on today's programme. You tuck into some breakfast, then immediately set off together and ride towards a waterhole, where you spot a herd of zebras – wow! With your cameras at the ready, you scan your surroundings and soon spot the next of Amboseli's wild inhabitants: a group of antelopes roaming the savannah in the distance. With a bit of luck, you may even get to see a lion or two! Then after a short lunch break in your beautiful accommodation, you’re off for the next safari, because one thing's for sure: you'll never get tired of exploring the realm of the Big Five!
